second night on the gulf coast = second bottle of el jimador with squirt (out of gatorade bottles that had necks that were too narrow for our hielos)
that light in the distance is vera cruz
![]() after leaving vera cruz, we drove north until we got to the kind of shoddy little beach town that just seemed more appropriately mexican. this town was so tiny it just pretty much shut down after dark.
i can't imagine defending a port with something like this

cocos fresca are everywhere.
$140 pesos (that's how they write it) worth of ceviche is a LOT of damn ceviche. so, so delivious though. we didn't eat for a full 24 hours after this.
this was the view from the boring corporate hotel room in vera cruz. during the storm the night we arrived, the waves were hitting the wall by the beach so hard that ocean spray hit us on the sidewalk across four lanes of highway.
