all of the center of puebla is pretty well preserved and well lived in colonial architecture. the place felt very european to me, whch i guess is fitting.
we only stopped in puebla for lunch (and wound up having to eat chicken hamburguesas).
puebla is a seriously cool little city. last night, as rob and eugene dutifully tried to kill me with tequila before i turned 28 today we found out that one of my favorite bartenders comes from here.
you can tell by how far back that mountain is how far long been driving out here before we ran across this beautiful place.
at least you don't really have to wonder why there was a small town built up around this particular stretch of highway.
after miles and miles of desert, suddenly we came upon this.
multi-purpose structure
the bug corpses on the windshield serve as a testament to how far in the middle of nowhere the little truckstop town was that for some reason had this stunning church.
yanet's cheap kitchen. i'm not exactly sure whether it was the emphasis on economics or the misspelling, but we drove on.
those look like mighty fine talachas
federales, teaching by example
why doesn't america ever export anything good? other than music, that is, i guess.
it's not every day you get to see a nurse collecting money in a cup from cars while stopped at a traffic light.
this was about where we made an intentional wrong turn, deciding not to go back through vera cruz, instead taking the road less travelled, and getting pulled over by the federales.
i think you could say that moe's is a very little boutique
mexico is so damn colorful.
![]() this is the shot we had to turn around for. talk about entrepreneurial use of space!
rob loves this guy
it's awesome how everything is painted. every wall is a potential sign.
i understand that they drink lots and lots of coca cola in mexico. the only soda i drank was fresca and squirt.
this bridge is awesome.
mexico seems like it would be a fun place to live for a dog.
the final product, after attempting to fix stage 3 problematic hair with nothing but free hotel soap and conditioner. it was truly a sight to behold. when we cought up with the wedding party in mineral de pozes after driving (sometimes in cirlces) for thirteen hours, it was late, and nadia (the bride) was drunk, and she could not stop laughing because i was so sunburnt, and rob's hair looked like this.
what happens when you try to share a whole bottle of el jimador with squirt with a traveling companion for the third night in a row?
you wind up drinking the tequila by yourself in a dark hotel room, watching monster, with bad reception, in spanish. and it's a grand old time. |
